Some of the best sushi I ever had. Izzy’s has a very nice ambiance with high top and outdoor seating. They have a roll called the big easy...I never would’ve thought andouille sausage belonged on sushi, but wow that was absolutely delicious. We ended up getting dinner and a show with some random unhappy man that came in yelling for a minute or so, but I can confidently say I was more than impressed with their food again on my second visit here, they haven’t failed me, I am definitely a very happy customer. Also shoutout to the literal one guy who was making ALL the sushi rolls. He was working so hard and while it took a little bit to get our food, it was without a doubt worth the wait. Will definitely be back and would recommend this spot to any sushi lover.
This place reminds me of a good Izakaya style Japanese bar! Menu isn't extensive but what they make, they make very well! Great sake and craft beer selection too! Every few months they have a 7-10 course tasting menu too with the chef that's reservation only and VERY worth it!!
My boyfriend took me here for date night and it was such a great experience! Food was amazing and the vibes were immaculate. Would highly recommend!
Mothers day Omasake! What a stellar treat! Paired with a sake flight. Exquisite! This was a multicourse small dish presentation with the chef/owner and manager. Delicious bites of rare, high grade fish. Each piece carefully presented and explained. We enjoy Izzy for sushi sometimes and have always been pleased. But thus was a whole extra level of excellence. Perfect for a very special celebration. I'll post pictures shortly...
I absolutely loved my experience here going to lunch with a friend on Saturday afternoon. Our server was Benton and he was fabulous so attentive, knowledge and friendly! The atmosphere of Izzy is cozy and intimate. I'll definitely be back!!!
Went here with a friend for a Saturday lunch. It wasn't crowded and the food was great! I got the pork katsu rice bowl and eel nagiri. Everything was fresh and well-prepared. Highly recommend it for an affordable experience with Japanese cuisine.
Great restaurant, definitely on the pricier side of the spectrum. At least the food matches up to the price you pay. The sushi is phenomenal, the cuts of fish are pristine! They also have a great selection of sake and beer. For nice nights out, I do believe we will be returning.
After finding nothing to buy at Bed, Bath & Beyond(!), spouse and I stopped by Izzy Pub & Sushi Bar on Thomasville Rd. We always seem to neglect the Midtown area, so making amends here! Sat outside with looming dark clouds, greeted quickly by our server and soon thereafter placed our order. Wife had the "Garnet & Gold" specialty roll while I ordered the Gyoza (dumplings), and the Pork Belly Skewers. Izzy also features a very comprehensive draft/bottled beer selection and Sake menu, so we each had a glass of draft beer. The sushi roll was delicious, made to order. Rice was quite fluffy, in contrast to the typical pressed style found at other places. Mango sauce had nice flavor with a subtle kick. My two selections came out 10 minutes apart (perfect timing), and both dishes were quite good (albeit the dumplings were somewhat cool; perhaps sat a bit too long?). The pork bellies were terrific; hot, with a nice crust on the edges, and married well with the bourbon-teriyaki glaze. Had to slap my wife's hand away from the last one...(stole a sushi roll; don't tell...). We thoroughly enjoyed this lunch and plan to return for the Omekase on a Sunday. Total minus tip was 56.
